Leonard Cohen is Queen’s favourite
Her Majesty loves his song Hallelujah so much she has requested it is played at this summer’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle.
Canadian group The Tenors will perform with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to mark her 60-year reign.
The Queen heard them sing Hallelujah — made famous by X Factor winner Alexandra Burke in 2008 — when she toured Canada two years ago.
Singer Victor Micallef said: “She told us how much she enjoyed Hallelujah. It was her favourite.”
Canadian singer Cohen, 77, is dubbed the “Godfather of Gloom” because of his depressing lyrics.
Prince Charles admitted he was a big Cohen fan in an interview with TV presenters Ant and Dec in 2006.
